Lucinda Marshall:

I chose Lincoln because the course contained both theoretical and practical elements which I really enjoyed. I love that you get a chance to learn about all aspects of PR which I still use in my job now – such as crisis management, social media, blogging, strategic communication and branding. This course gives you an excellent kick start into the industry and it helped me get my dream job working in public relations.

Emma Wright:

One of my favourite things about the course was the

size of the group there was roughly 14 of us on the

course throughout the three years and we all grew to

be very close friends. This really helped with dreaded

group work tasks! As we were so small we also

developed great relationships with our tutors, who

supported us massively through every single assignment. We were lucky to have this support, especially at tough times such as dissertation hand-ins and job applications. I found the course itself was very enjoyable.

When I first stated I had little knowledge of what PR was but the course structure really starts you off gently, so you can find your feet and adjust to all the craziness that is happening around you. The perfect combination of both practical and academic assessments meant each year was never the same with no two assignments similar. It really gave me a taste for what I would actually be doing in the world of work and helped to guide me down which path in Public Relations I would like to take. In fact my current employers hired me because of the practical experience I had gained whilst at university and found it refreshing that my course was not solely academic.

One assignment I loved in particular was the crisis management day, but it’s all top secret so I won’t say much more about that! The course has opened so many doors for me due to the efforts of the tutors who really helped me to understand the value of work experience and basically not being afraid to get stuck in. From the friends I have made to the course itself, I can honestly say that the Public Relations course at Lincoln is top notch.
